The claim in context
The human problem
Everyday planning and learning often require changing quantities or exploring relationships.
The prior constraint
A text response can require another prompt to inspect how an input changes an answer.
AI’s actual role
GPT-6 can generate interactive graphics, forms, charts and small tools within a ChatGPT conversation.
The documented result
ChatGPT’s next answer may give you something to operate. OpenAI announced Intelligent UI on October 7: GPT-6 responses that can combine text with graphics, buttons, forms and charts, including small tools inside a conversation. For everyday users, the appeal is straightforward. Changing an input could be easier than writing another prompt.
Why it may matter
Interactive controls could make a plan or explanation easier to explore when its assumptions and results remain visible.
Limitations
- This is an expansion of GPT-6, whose first models arrived last month. OpenAI’s accompanying system card distinguishes the October versions in Chat from September versions that remain in Work and Codex. Bright has reviewed the announcement and documentation; we have not independently tested the new feature.
- Those are suggested checks, not results from a Bright test. They show what a helpful mini-tool ought to let you inspect. If it hides its calculation or cannot explain a change, a neat layout is doing less useful work than it appears to.
- The global rollout starts October 7 for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise in Chat, with Free and Go scheduled to follow from October 8. Enterprise access depends on workspace settings. The dated release notes say paid tiers use GPT-6 Sol and Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna.
- There is a naming trap: Intelligent UI supports Instant through Extra High where available, but the Pro reasoning option uses Astra and does not support it. The Pro subscription and Pro reasoning choice are different things. Work and Codex models are unchanged by this release.
- OpenAI’s help page points people to the web or supported updated apps; older macOS and Windows ChatGPT desktop apps do not support these capabilities. On the web, Settings has a Layout and visuals control to reduce visual elements. It does not promise a completely text-only experience. Existing allowances still apply.
- OpenAI’s system card reports factuality testing on difficult, selected prompts and explicitly warns that those results do not describe average production use. That is another reason to avoid treating the launch as proof that every generated tool is dependable.
